Mayor's Welcome:
To all of our fine citizens of Vinton:
It seems we are always so busy that sometimes we loose sight of the important things. We are so blessed and have so many wonderful things to be thankful for in our town. As our community continues to move forward, we are especially blessed with many great people like you and we are thankful for each one of you.
To visitors, welcome to Vinton, Louisiana. We have a super community with a strong city government providing services to our citizens. You can find and build your success story in Vinton. Our history is strong.
Great strides have been made in completing projects with our public grants. Our plan remains to complete all public roads paving or improve firm surfaces. Alleys and parking lots have been completed to provide safe and clean environments for our citizens. Progress on other city projects remain on schedule.
Again, my door is always open, as I am here to serve each of you, our citizens.
Kenneth Stinson, Mayor kstinson@cityofvinton.com

Here is Mayor Stinson with Senator John Smith, in front of the new Vinton sign on Center St. You see it as you exit I10. Senator Smith also arranged for a grant that enabled us to have the downtown mural seen below.

The mural was painted by Don McCaughey and his son. It sits across from the Vinton Post Office, painted on the side of the Studio Mane Hair Salon. It shows the old Southern Pacific railroad station that was abandoned and later torn down as a hazard. In the background you can see the Vinton Feed Store and the Vinton Coop Rice Drier (which is scheduled to be demolished). He also carved the driftwood sculpture sitting in the front lobby of City Hall. Don has been an artist for many years. Although he has worked in every art medium imaginable, he specializes in landscapes and wildlife. His duck paintings are among the best. He is a Vinton resident, now retired and devoting more time to art projects.
