William “BB” Loyd, Mayor-Pro-Tem called the
meeting to order. Chaplin Tatum led in
prayer, and then followed the Pledge of Allegiance.
It was moved by
Council Member Merchant that the minutes of prior meetings, copies of which
were mailed to each Council Member prior to the meeting, be approved as
written. The motion was seconded by
Council Member Patin and carried.
Mary Vice, City
Clerk gave the monthly Administration Department report.
Bills for the
month of January, 2011, were approved and payment authorized upon a motion by
Council Member Merchant, seconded by Council Member Bujard and carried.
Mayor-Pro-Tem
Loyd announced that the Congressional Re-Districting meeting will be held at
the
Mayor-Pro-Tem
Loyd discussed working in conjunction with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to
make the portion of Big Woods Road that is inside the Vinton Corp Limits a “No
Truck” route.
It was moved by
Council Member Patin that the agenda be amended to hear an item from Ms. Elaine
Briggs regarding Multiple Sclerosis awareness.
The motion was seconded by Council Member Merchant and the vote cast
thereon was as follows:

ABSENT: Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor
Ms. Briggs
discussed the Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Group she is a member of and works
with. She shared important facts about
the disease and gave an update on the awareness groups activities.
Council Member
Bujard discussed the ordinance adopted by the
Ricky Fox, Chief
of Police gave the monthly Police Department report.
In the absence
of
Jerry Merchant,
Fire Chief gave the monthly fire and civil defense reports.
There being no
further business to come before the Governing Authority, it was moved by
Council Member Merchant that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Council Member Douga
and carried.
