Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor called the meeting to order. Chaplin Tatum led in prayer, and there
followed the Pledge of Allegiance.
It was moved by Council Member Douga
that the minutes of prior meeting/s, copies of which were mailed to each
Council Member, be approved as written.
The motion was seconded by Council Member Merchant and carried.
Mary Vice, City Clerk gave the
monthly Administration Department report.
She announced that in lieu of property taxes the Vinton Housing
Authority had submitted a check in the amount of $5,000.00.
Bills for the month of June, 2010,
were approved and payment authorized upon a motion by Council Member Patin,
seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
Representative Mike Danahay updated
the governing authority on the 2010 Legislative Session.
Mayor Stinson updated the governing
authority on pending grants and projects.
The Mayor announced that the
following bids were received in regard to the Replacement of Pressure Filter
Control Valves Project:
Louisiana
Utilities Supply Co. $17,671.70
Lafayette
Winwater Works Co. $31,660.00
Hungerford
& Terry, Inc. $49,920.00
Upon the recommendation of the
engineer, it was moved by Council Member Douga to accept the low bid of
$17,671.70 from Louisiana Utilities Supply Co.
The motion was seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
Council Member Merchant discussed
amending the current Fireworks Ordinance to designate a time period for popping
fireworks on holidays.
The Mayor appointed Council Members
Merchant and Patin to get with the attorney in drafting an amendment to the
fireworks ordinance as discussed.
In the absence of Ricky Fox, Chief of
Police a written report for the Police Department was submitted for the month.
In the absence of
Ms. Bea Hart discussed with the
governing authority an issue she had with the Parish Animal Control regarding
feeding stray cats.
There being no further business to
come before the Governing Authority, it was moved by Council Member Bujard that
the meeting be adjourned. The motion was
seconded by Council Member Douga and carried.
