Vinton, Louisiana

June 30, 2008

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, met in emergency session at the regular meeting place of said Mayor and Council, in the Town Hall, Vinton, Louisiana, at 6:00 P.M., on the 30^th day of June 2008, after full compliance with all requirements as to notice and otherwise in respect to convening of said meeting with the following members present:

Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor

Bliss Bujard, Council Member

Kevin Merchant, Mayor-Pro-Tem

Edward J. Vice, Council Member

ABSENT: William “BB” Loyd, Council Member

ALSO PRESENT: Thad Minaldi, Town Attorney

Kenneth Stinson, Mayor called the meeting to order and reported that the purpose of the meeting was as follows:

1. To discuss and/or transact business pertinent to Council appointment due to the resignation of Karen Douglass.

It was moved by Council Member Merchant that the following Resolution be adopted

appointing Harold Douga to the vacant seat on the Vinton Town Council. The motion was seconded by Council Member Bujard and the vote cast thereon was as follows:

YEAS: Council Members Bujard, Merchant and Vice

NAYS: None

ABSENT: Council Member Loyd

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, a vacancy now exists on the Town Council of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, due to the resignation of Karen Douglass;

WHEREAS, LSA – R.S. 18:602A mandates that the governing authority of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, appoint a person to fill the vacancy who meets the qualification of the office.

WHEREAS, said appointee shall assume the duties of the office of Council Member of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, that Harold Douga is hereby appointed to fill the vacancy on the Town Council, due to the resignation of Karen Douglass; said appointee shall assume the duties of the office of Council Member of the Town of Vinton.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, on this 30^th day of June, 2008.

Mr. Douga accepted the nomination and was immediately sworn in by Attorney Minaldi.

There being no further business to come before the governing authority, it was moved by Council Member Vice that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Council Member Merchant and carried.
