Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor called the meeting to order. Chaplin Tatum led in prayer, and there
followed the Pledge of Allegiance.
It was moved by Council Member Loyd
that the minutes of prior meeting/s, copies of which were mailed to each
Council Member, be approved as written.
The motion was seconded by Council Member Merchant and carried.
Mary Vice, City Clerk gave the
monthly Administration Department report.
Bills for the month of February, 2009,
were approved and payment authorized upon a motion by Council Member Douga,
seconded by Council Member Bujard and carried.
Mayor Stinson updated the governing
authority on pending grants and projects.
He discussed adopting the following Resolution regarding applying for
grant money for water treatment plant improvements.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the Town of
WHEREAS grants for this
project may be available through the
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, by representatives of the Town of
Section 1. The Town of Vinton hereby supports
the application for grant funds for this project; and further, Kenneth O.
Stinson as Mayor, is hereby authorized to submit a 2008-2009 Grant Application
and accompanying documents to the Louisiana Division of Administration, Office
of Community Development on behalf of the Town of Vinton for the purpose of
water treatment plant improvements; and,
Section 2. Kenneth O. Stinson is further
authorized to furnish such additional information as may be reasonably be
required in connection with the Grant Application; and,
Section 3. Kenneth O. Stinson is hereby
designated as the Official Project Representative and is hereby given signature
authority for all relative documents for the Town of
A MOTION TO ADOPT the above
resolution was made by Council Member Merchant, seconded by Council Member Loyd
and resulted in the following vote:

Mayor Stinson reported that proper
service had been made to the following property owners regarding demolition of
unsafe structures on each property:
1. Jeffrey McCardle –
2. Bonnie Viator –
Mayor Stinson
asked if Mr. McCardle was present to discuss
present.
It was moved by Council Member
Merchant to proceed with the demolition process and
Mayor Stinson asked if Mrs. Bonnie
Viator was present to discuss
Mrs. Viator and Mr. John Stoddard
were both present to discuss improvements that were made to the property.
The Council expressed to Mrs. Viator
and Mr. Stoddard that the improvements that were made did not bring the
structure to a point that it would be considered “safe”.
It was moved by Council Member Douga
to proceed with the demolition process at

It was moved by Council Member Douga
that the following Class “A” Beer and Liquor Permits be approved upon approval
of their State License:

The motion was seconded by
Council Member Loyd and carried.
Chief of Police, Ricky Fox gave the
monthly police department report.
Chief Fox thanked everyone for their
prayers, support and concern during his recent surgery.
In the absence of Chief Merchant no
Fire or Civil Defense reports were given.
There being no further business to come
before the Governing Authority, it was moved by Council Member Bujard that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion was
seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
