Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor
called the meeting to order. Council
Member Tatum led in
prayer, and there followed the Pledge of Allegiance.
It was moved by
Council Member Douglass that the minutes of prior meeting/s, copies of
which were mailed to each Council Member, be
approved as written. The motion was
seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
Mary Vice, City
Clerk gave the administration report for the month.
Bills for the
month of December, 2006, were approved and payment authorized upon a
motion
by Council Member Vice, seconded by Council Member Douglass and carried.
Mayor Stinson
updated the governing authority on the pending grants and projects. He announced that an informational meeting
regarding the proposed housing development on the Fontenot property will be
held on January 24, 2007, at 5:30 p.m.
Mayor Stinson
discussed a proposal from Delta Downs to extend the lease on the property where
their sign is located at the
After discussion
it was moved by Council Member Douglass to approve and authorize the Mayor to
sign the proposed lease extension with Delta Downs. The motion was seconded by Council Member
Merchant and carried.
Mayor Stinson
discussed having the Town’s surplus equipment sold online.

Council Member Merchant that Mayor Kenneth O. Stinson be appointed to represent

representing the Town of

announced that the Town of

Vice discussed the town building a sidewalk between Dominium Homes and

discussion, it was moved by Council Member Vice that the town pay for the
erection of a sidewalk from Dominium Homes to
Council Member
Vice discussed having an employment contract for Police Department employees,
requiring them to remain employed with the town for 3 years or reimburse the
town for their training fees.
Council Member
Vice proposed a pay increase for the police department employees.
Mayor Stinson
appointed himself, Council Members Loyd and Vice and department heads to look
into the pay increase issue for all departments.
Council Member
Vice discussed the property located at
Ricky Fox, Chief
of Police gave the monthly Police Department report.
Upon the
recommendation of the Chief of Police, it was moved by Council Member Vice that
Penny Guidry be made a regular employee effective immediately. The motion was seconded by Council Member
Merchant and carried.
There being no further business to come before
the Governing Authority, it was moved by Council Member Douglass that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was seconded by
Council Member Loyd and carried.
